How to care for them

Trim the stems at a 45 degree angle on arrival and place them in a deep vase with plenty of fresh, cool water. Sunflowers are thirsty flowers and will drink a significant amount of water right away, so check the water level daily and top up as required.

Remove any leaves that would sit below the waterline. Replace the water every two days and re-trim the stems each time. Keep sunflowers away from direct sunlight, radiators and draughts.

If the heads begin to droop, this is usually a sign of dehydration. Re-cut the stems and place them in fresh water and they often recover within a few hours.
